Men Vs Women

After browsing a male mag (makes me feel like a spy) I noticed something very interesting.

Maybe it is just the people who write the articles, but looking at male zines and female zines seems to provide an interesting perspective into the minds of both genders.(their buying them right?)

I notice that (maybe it's just me) but when it comes to AskMen, most of the answers and articles are about how to control or dominate the situation. Where as Cosmo seems to be a bit more passive, and focused on improvement.

Is it just me, or does anyone else get that vibe when it comes to male vs female advice?
I don't know if any of this spills over into real life, or what men actually talk about while chicks aren't there, but just goin off of their collective magazines there seems to be a bit of difference in how they go about solving problems, and to an extent how they view their problems.

I just skip to the pictures of the half naked women so I'm not really sure what you're talking about.

As far as I know, men like to solve problems (that's why they go bald faster...they pull their hairs out when they run into the unsolvable problems). Woman on the other hand aren't necessarily looking for a way to "fix" something, as long as we can chat about it endlessly, it's okay too.

So yes, as far as I'm concerned, your observations are correct.

Keep in mind, looking at those two magazines neglects the entire demographic of individuals who skip cosmo/maxim/askmen..etc to read PopSci/NatGeo/SciAm...etc.

There are a bunch of us, from both genders, who would look to combine both dominant and improvement-focused methods to solving problems and challenges facing humanity.

I almost never read cosmo, and I hate the way the magazine recommends approaches to problems. Maybe that's why I don't like Cosmo, but I don't think it offers an accurate glimpse into the pysche of all females.

I've seen an issue or two of Cosmo ("SIX SECRET WAYS TO DRIVE YOUR MAN WILD IN BED" "THE TRICK THAT WILL MAKE HIM DO ANYTHING YOU WANT" "THE SEXUAL POSITION THAT WILL DRIVE YOU BOTH WILD") in my day and I can honestly say that the Weekly World News was a more reliable source of factual information.

I just think it's interesting that typical men's magazines and typical women's magazines both have pictures of beautiful and scantily clad women on the covers.

The only thing I can infer from this is that all women are lesbians.

women like women too.. and us men like that, lol

look at all the songs out now about my girl has a girlfriend.. and She kissed a girl and liked it, lol.. :-)

And problems with bedroom stuff related to sex are easy to solve.. just have to trust your partner enough to be willing to share your fantasies with them and be kinky enough to want to try out what they suggest as well.

There should be a system to having sex and it works in 3's:
The first time you both just go at it and yea try to figure stuff out, you both do your own things and i dunno.. normal sex.
The second one partner(rock paper scissors) gets to decide everything and what you all do and anything goes
The third.. the other partner gets to do or have you do wahtever they want..

this way everyones excited and looking foward to their turn and you get to fulfil all your favorite hot little fantasies.. if it's ur turn tho u have to cover the bill at lovers lane or priscillas

adn after the guy has his turn.. I'm sure he'd be proud to go mow the lawn or do the dishes, buy you some roses.. after he has a beer and tells some friends about the freaky thing his wife just let him try :-) I'm so smart

Magazines tend to pander to the stereotype, I think.

The only 'girl' magazine I've ever related to is Healthy Woman, and even then, every now and then there's an article there that I think "WTF?" about.

Both Cosmo and Maxim are chauvanist when it comes to love and relationships. If it's an article about movies, music, cooking or something else interesting they're okay. I would like to see any magazine with headlines like Wingnut mentioned to disappear.

As well as an unwarranted bias, both of which are made by generalizing an entire gender. Don't you think it's kind of narcissistic to believe you have a grasp on something like that?

GAMMERUS, I STARTED TO READ YOUR INTITIAL COMMENT, BUT THEN I REALIZED YOU WERE A WOMAN. SO, INSTEAD OF TRYING TO UNDERSTAND ANYTHING YOU HAD TO SAY, I DECIDED TO DOMINATE THIS THREAD BY TYPING IN ALL CAPITAL LETTERS. YOU HAVE BEEN DOMINATED. NO NEED TO THANK ME.

I wouldn't call it narcissism. Since the dawn of time men and women have tried to understand each other, it only makes sense that certain ideas and such would develop and certain people would try to give advice about the opposite gender. I don't think it is any bit more self absorbed than giving your kids advice about the real world. You may not know everything, and much of what you say will be a broad generalization, but that is how we try to inform one another when we don't have real answers.
