To be honest, I would really just like a "get to know you outside of the office to see if we're compatible" thing and don't want to approach it like it's a "let's get naked and do it all night long" thing. (although I'd love to have a "let's get naked and do it all night long" thing as well)
Just ask her if she wants to go for coffee on a break or after work. Can't go wrong with that.

No matter how shy you are, talking to her will be the first and foremost thing. If you haven't already...talk with her on breaks. Spend some time (appropriate, of course, not saying don't do your job, or do something to prevent her from doing her job), but hang out on breaks, maybe have lunch together.

But really...Work romances aren't a great idea. Totally unromantic, but check your company policy. Some places, you can lose your job or she could lose hers, particularly if you're within the same chain of command, or worse, one of you is a supervisor for the other. And, even if it's not illegal/prohibited, what happens if you go out, then crash and burn and hate each other? Do you want to have to work with her in those situations? Think carefully before initiating a work relationship!

Add her on an online social networking site such as facebook or myspace or ask for her msn etc. Get that then work magic because the online you is better than the shy offline you. Move in with her and then marry her.


Ok maybe not, but if she has a FB or something like that is is easier to talk online without the pressures of being shy.
