Couples study debunks 'trial marriage' notion of cohabiting
Couples study debunks 'trial marriage' notion of cohabiting
Most unmarried couples who live together aren't trying to test their relationship. They just want to spend more time together.

That study of dating and cohabitation, seemingly contradicts the popular wisdom of cohabitation as a trial marriage. It's among early results from the study, scheduled to continue for years picked by Bingo 5 months ago

It's a good way to spend more time together, saves money, lots of benefits.

Hubbin and I lived together for...ummm...lots of years before we got married. It was nice, because we didn't have to deal with fighting over who's place to stay at, we had a house instead of apartments or sharing a house with a bunch of friends, all sorts of stuff. It was good.

Gotta 2nd that opinion.

Even though the thought of "Trial Marriage" was last think on my mind when I moved in with the (now) wife, I still think it certainly acts as a trial, even if it's only by default.

Though I can't say that my period of unmarried cohabitation with my now dear husband was an intentional trial period, it still served that purpose. Sure, we just wanted to be together as much as possible. But I think we benefited from finding out what the other was like at home, not on best date behavior. Luckily in our case, it solidified what we knew about each other and our compatibility, but I'm still glad we found out before making what, to me, is a permanent commitment.

His parents, on the other hand, still haven't forgiven me for enticing their precious son to "live in sin."

I so hope you're giggling wickedly when you say that. :D

My MIL was originally all in favor of he and I living together before marriage. 5 years, she said, was just great.

Round about year 2, with no engagement announced, she started getting pushy. He finally shut her up by saying "We're waiting another year every time you harass us about it."

I'm nearly always giggling wickedly, so you're absolutely right! The fact that their good little Catholic boy married wicked old me probably isn't helping my cause either.
