Tufts University has a new rule that bars dorm-room sex when the other roommate is there.
"We do not want to hinder . . . private activity," assistant housing director Carrie Ales-Rich said. "But when it becomes uncomfortable for the roommate, we want to have something in place."

That was one of the first conversations I had with roommates. Don't care what they do or who, but there need to be boundaries!

I am glad someone made this rule. I remember being at hotel rooms when the folks next door are going at it...so awkward and impossible to ignore.

My dorm had it's own way of coping with this. Most offenders of the noisy variety weren't really residents, but a crowd would gather outside to applaud.
One noisy escapade was recorded, then uploaded to the internet.
It involved a thump, then a pause and "are you ok?" before it continued.
